Friday afternoon we flew to Alta to visit our 2 missionaries and the branch there. It was cool and beautiful! We drove 2 hours to Hammerfest on Saturday and spent Saturday night with the Andersen family. It was fun to be in a house with children again. We almost brought a few home with us!
It is REALLY on top of the world! We flew into Alta and drove to Hammerfest… This map is on the ceiling of the elders apartment.
Elder Cheney and Elder Mickelson…
Lunch was on us!
Our missionaries have lived in the upstairs of this house for many, many years! Sister Kristensen and her son have been great to the missionaries.
The view from the apartment window!
The Germans came to Alta during WW11 and built an airport. They brought in wood from Poland and used it for the runway. After the war when the Norwegians came back to Alta they took the wood from the runways to build houses. This is on the Kristensen farm.
Such a beautiful place!
On the drive north.
This is the Andersen family in Hammerfest. We had such a great time being in their home!
We wanted to bring him home with us and I think he would have come!
We wanted her too!
The drive back to Alta! (taken out the window of the car)
I took this picture because when I was a child we had a clothesline just like this in our yard. We would hang blankets on the outside and make a fort. This is in the back yard of the building that the church rents for Sunday meetings.
The branch in Alta had a meal together after church. Pictures to follow!
Eating some risgrøt!
Lamb stew. Delicious! (lapskaus)
It was fun to see the reindeer everywhere! We had beautiful weather on Sunday and a great time in Alta/Hammerfest!
